I have suffered from Endometriosis and Adenomyosis for over 20 years. and had over 40 surgeries and surgical procedures over this time to manage these diseases and complications that have arisen from them.
Endometriosis is a disease where the tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus occurs outside this layer and causes pain and/or infertility and affects 1 in 10 women worldwide. For great information and education tools on Endometriosis go to www.endometriosisaustralia.org
Adenomyosis is a condition of the uterus where the cells that normally form a lining on the inside of the uterus also grow in the muscle wall of the uterus.
After being lucky enough to have one child through IVF and then going through multiple failed IVF attempts my husband and I made the decision to have a hysterectomy to improve my quality of life. Whilst a hysterectomy is not a cure for Endometriosis it is a cure for Adenomyosis and the surgery provided an opportunity to excise any remaining Endometriosis and free adhesions from previous surgeries.
This video is my diary leading up to the surgery and throughout the journey. It a very honest and raw insight to the emotional roller coaster that comes with living these diseases and my sincerest hope is this video helps those going through this same battle and their loved ones understand what we go through and to raise awareness.
